June Winchester

Age 90, of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Cranberry Park in Clio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Friday evening at ­­­­7:00 pm the family and parish will gather to pray the rosary. On Saturday morning June will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the St. Mary School Guardian Angel Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. June was born July 1, 1927, in Birch Run, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian and Nona (Purcell) Reed. She and Ray Winchester were united in marriage July 5, 1947, in Birch Run. In 1945, she began her career as a beautician until 1948 when she had her first child, thus redirecting her efforts to raise her family. She volunteered time at her church, St. Mary in Mt. Morris, in a variety of ways, including the Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, taking care of the house, and helping with the grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory her husband; children, Susan Monnett, Donald and wife Joyce Winchester, Bill and wife Jackie Winchester, Rita Morgan, Lynn and husband Rick Boyes, Nancy and husband Glen McMillan; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dan and wife Cheryl Reed and Lois North; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Dennis Winchester; five brothers: Billy, Clarence, Walter, Russell and James; and sister: Edna.
