Joyce "Reona" Karr

Joyce Karr, age 86, passed away on March 30, 2018, at her home in Vassar, Michigan. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Vassar, on April 3, 2018, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 2, 2018, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday, morning Joyce will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Pastor Raymond Karr will officiate with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Vassar First Baptist Church and Wellsprings Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Joyce was born January 28, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs. Ervin and Fern (Bell) Parks. She married the love of her life, Albert “Al” Karr, in Lapeer on December 31, 1955. He sadly preceded her in death in 2016. Joyce made her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the family cottage on Higgins Lake. She loved going on vacation to different destinations. In her free time, she went shopping, gambled, played cards, and watched her favorite soaps on the television. She was a caring and fun-loving woman who will be missed dearly by her loved ones. She will also be remembered for having cookies and milk for anyone who came over to visit and her famous macaroni and cheese. Left to cherish her memory are, two daughters: Vicki Karr-Yates and husband, William, and Terri Karr; Daughter-n-law: Charlene Karr; eight grandchildren: Courtney (Dennis) Pisha, Anthony (Autumn) Karr, Craig Karr, Alicia Shaffer, Garrett Yates, Lauren Yates, Leah Hoyt and Janelle Hoyt; seven great-grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Bronner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Al, her son, Doug, granddaughter Karley, brother, Gene, and sister, Janelle.
