John Vargo

Age 91, of Mt. Morris, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, in University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Friday, March 15, 2019, at the Martin, Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Andy Fralick officiating, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. John's family will be present at the funeral home to receive guests on Thursday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm; and on Friday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Dementia Society of America. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. John was born in Chesaning, Michigan, on August 27, 1927, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Erma (Marschelco) Vargo. He married the love of his life, Sophie Errichiello, on August 9, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland. Sadly, she preceded him in death on August 6, 2013. He proudly served in the United States Maritime Service until receiving his honorable discharge. John was the supervisor of custodial for Flint Community School District, until retiring in 1985. In his free time, John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an excellent golfer and bowler and loved teaching these sports to others. Left to cherish his memory are his son-in-law, William Reich; two grandchildren: Benjamin Graham and Sophie Reich; two great-grandchildren, Sophie Graham, and Austin Graham; and many other family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sophie, and his daughter Beverly.
