Of Mt. Morris, age 81, died Monday, March 24, 2008 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Heritage United Church of Christ located at 7074 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the church. He survived the Soviet prison camps to return to Hungary and restart his life. However, just a few years later, when Russia invaded his country in 1956, he escaped with his family; arriving in America on February 4, 1957. After working many different kinds of jobs, he began working at the Fisher Body Ternstedt Plant in Flint, in 1960; working there until retiring in 1992. John and his family became citizens of the USA in 1967. He was a member of Heritage United Church of Christ (Formerly, Hungarian Reformed Church of Flint). John is survived by wife of 54 years: Jolan Tomsik; one daughter: Jolan (Kevin) Kurtz of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren: Patrick, Aaron, and Emily Kurtz of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister: Elizabeth (Joseph) Raab of Mt. Morris and many relatives in America and Hungary; John was preceded in death by his parents: John Tomsik Sr. and Barbara (Divinyi) Tomsik;
