John Sluka

John Edward Sluka, age 70, of Grand Blanc, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc. John’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Saturday morning, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. John was born October 22, 1947, in Pontiac, Michigan. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Edith Sluka (Coats). Educated locally, John graduated from Pontiac Central High School. John would go on to serve the people of Bloomfield Township serving as a Firefighter and EMT for 25 years, retiring in 2003. In his free time, John enjoyed spending time fishing on the Betsie River, model trains, and classic cars. He also enjoyed, vacationing in Port Aransas, Texas. Left to cherish his memory, his wife Carolyn; brothers: David (Janice) Sluka, James Sluka, and Robert Sluka; sister, Carol (Bill) Sallee; sisters-in-laws: Ann (Jim) Hester, Patti Herzog, Ginny (Jim) Knapp, and Sandy (Jim) McMahon; brother-in-law, Nicholas (Desiree) Herzog, Jr; mother-in-law, Patsy Herzog; many nieces and nephews; and loving furbabies: Emillie Marie, Abby, and Chessie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law Nicholas Herzog Sr.
