Of Clio, age 86, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Brians House Hospice. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci will officiate. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Friday night, family and friends will meet at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Saturday morning, John will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Hospice at Brian's House-Davison. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. John was born April 11, 1925 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Elizabeth (Lengyel) Pintek. When he was 17, John was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served his two year tour in Italy and Africa, in the 347th FA Battalion Infantry. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart. He and Joanna Goldsmith met at St. Mary's Catholic School in 1942 and were united in marriage July 8, 1950. Further, he was employed by General Motors-Buick for 35 years, retiring in 1980. John will be dearly missed. John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Joanna; son, John Christopher and wife, Diane Pintek; four daughters, Catherine and husband, Michael Ames, Lucy and husband, Timothy Libbey, Ramona Goodwin, and Rebecca and husband, Barry Rainey; twelve grandchildren, Courtney, Daniel, and Erin Pintek, Evan Ames, Timothy Jr. and wife, Aileen, Christian, and Malia Libbey, Myles and Haylie Goodwin, and Mallory, David, and Stephen Fahr; one great-grandson, Gage Ryan Libbey; sister, Margaret and husband, Frank Salk; nieces, Joanna Beckley and Carol Sue Pintek; and nephews, Gregory and Eugene Salk. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Joseph, Jr., Frank, and Louis.
