Age 82, of Grand Blanc, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Hampton Manor Assisted Living. A Celebration of Life will take place from 11:00am until 4:00pm, on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. - John was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Teto and Mary DeLay. John met his beloved wife, Geraldine Promenchenkel, and the two were united in marriage on March 16, 1963. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 2018, after 55 wonderful years of marriage. John was employed through General Motors where he worked as a General Supervisor until his retirement in 2004. John enjoyed spending time with his family and was a leader with the Boy Scouts for 10 years, while his children were growing up. He also enjoyed coaching football in the junior league for Grand Blanc community for over 20 years. John was a founding member of Heritage Baptist Church in Grand Blanc starting as a mission and building into a church. Golfing was his passion. John was a member of the Elks Club and could often be found out on the green. John loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
- Left to cherish John’s memory are his children: Jeff and Nancy DeLay, and Matt and Bobbi DeLay; daughter-in-law: Denise DeLay; grandchildren: Adam and wife, Jessie, Jeremy and wife, Sheila, Lucas and wife, Rebecca, Jordan and wife, Catie, Ryan and wife, Ashley, Joshua, Amanda and husband, Bill, Devin and wife Newal, Avery, Krysten, Megan, Brenden; great-grandchildren: Ayden, Liam, Kruize, Adalynn, Weslynn, Nicholas, Natalie, Ian, Avah, Jack; siblings: Carol and husband, Ron Shook, Roger and wife, Eileen DeLay, Marsha DeLay; sisters-in-law: Laina DeLay, and Gloria DeLay; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
- John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Geraldine DeLay; his parents; children; Kim Alchin, Peter DeLay; siblings: Jim DeLay, David DeLay.
