Joan Lee Mckee

Age 88, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, December 21, 2020, at McLaren Flint. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Mt. Morris Community Church. Pastor Scott Southerland to officiate. Burial will follow in the spring of 2021 in Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at Mt. Morris Community Church from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Mt. Morris Community Church. Joan was born on February 21, 1932, in Attica, Michigan; the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William L. and Marguarite (Running) Warren. Joan was raised in Lapeer and educated locally, graduating from Lapeer High School with the Class of 1950. She would go on to attend nursing school, graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Joan met the love of her life, Carl McKee, while out with friends. The two dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on June 21, 1968, in Flint. Joan worked as an LPN for several hospitals throughout Flint before working in a doctor's office. She attended Mt. Morris Community Church, and she loved organizing family gatherings, getting the family together for reunions, and going to fireworks on the 4th of July. In her free time, Joan enjoyed painting, drawings, art, crafts, country music, gospel & religious music, traveling throughout the US, and driving around to look at Christmas lights. Joan leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 52 and a half years: Carl McKee; two sons: Richard and wife, Jane McKee, Michael McKee; brother: Robert L. Warren; sister: Jean Hill. Joan was preceded in death by her brother: Richard Warren; and her sister: Janet Schumaker.
