Jimmy Lee Reaves Sr.

Age 68, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Jimmy’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Jimmy Lee Reaves Sr. was born on August 27, 1956, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Mr. James Reaves and Mrs. LaVerne (Young) Baldwin. Jimmy heeded his call of duty, enlisting in the United States Army. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked as a Machine Operator for FTE. Eager to further his education, Jimmy went on to obtain a Certification in Truck Driving after obtaining his GED. Jimmy would meet and marry the love of his life, Nancy Speary on October 12, 1979 at Faith Tabernacle in Flint, Michigan. Sadly, she preceded him in passing on December 20, 2020 after 41 years of marriage.

Jimmy would love to spend his free time at the casino, often frequenting Soaring Eagles and Saganing Eagles. When he wasn’t at the casino, he could be found watching his favorite football teams, the Fighting Irish Notre Dame and the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed fishing, bingo, card games, and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Julie and husband, Larry Smith, Laura and husband, Jason Fletcher, Jimmy and wife, Shawn Reaves Jr.; his six grandchildren: Joel, Jon, Taylor, Kelsea, Aubri, McKenzie; his 17 great-grandchildren; his brothers-in-law: Robert and wife, Lisa Speary, Joe Myers, George Govitz; his three sisters-in-law: Betsy and husband, Bob Lyons, Lee Hawkins, Becky Clayton; his best friend: Angie; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Nancy, his sister: Brenda Middleditch; his two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Govitz, Linda Myers; his niece: Traci Higgins; his grandson: Justin Dent; and his great-grandson: Zayn Fletcher.
