July 19, 1933 — June 15, 2009

Of Vanderbilt, formerly of Quanicassee, age 75, passed away suddenly after a short illness on Monday, June 15, 2009 at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Rev. Daniel Gonder will officiate with burial to follow in Floral Gardens Cemetery with Graveside Military Honors under the direction of American Legion Post #7486. JimAaas family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00pm until 9:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Camp Fishtails, Challenge Mountain or to the charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jim was born July 19, 1933 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses and Mildred (Heinzman) Hill. He and Gail were united in marriage April 6, 1957. Jim graduated from Akron High School. After high school, Jim would join the United States Navy, serving as an Air Traffic Control Man. After his honorable discharge, Jim went to work for DeFoe, building ships. Jim retired from Grey Iron Foundry on October 1, 1993, after 30 years of service. Jim was a member of UAW Local #668, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Gail; three children; Guy and wife, Chris, Jay and wife, Michell, Todd and wife, Sharon; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, Douglas and wife, Gail of Quanicassee; many nieces, nephews and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Moses J. and Mildred M.(Heinzman) Hill. The family wanted to give special thank you to their grandson, Jimmy for all the love and care he gave.
