Swinton, Jewel Jr. of Vassar passed away suddenly Friday, December 5, 2008 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. Jewel was born May 13, 1951 in Saginaw, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Sr. and Vina (Moore) Swinton. He worked for the Caro Center for 27 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a dedicated family man, who served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jewel leaves to cherish his memory his mother Vina, seven children: Susan and (Patrick) Streeter, Tyrone (Ty) Lugo, Santos (Tos-E) Lugo, Ambrosia ( Amy) Lugo, Nicholas Jewel Swinton Jr., Matel Swinton, and Allen Swinton, grandchildren: Lekisha Bables, Candis Lugo, Iesha Dudley, Wynter Dudley, Charnell Lugo, Scottie L. Johnson, Adrian N. Sutton, Mi-Santos J. Lugo Jr., Precious Swinton, Taqiera Swinton, Tiera Swinton, Tyreasha Bryant, brothers and sisters Deloris (James) Douglas, John Therdore Swinton, Lillie Bell Swinton, Johnathan Swinton, Sylvester (Barbara) Swinton, William Darling (Maria) Swinton, and Ozie (Princess) Swinton. He was preceded in death by his father Jewel Swinton Sr., his brothers Willie Jewel Swinton, and Jerry Maxion Swinton, and his son Sederick Lee Bables. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11:00am at the Greater Ephesians Church of God in Christ of Vassar, Michigan. Pastor Samuel Watkins will perform services. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at church on Friday morning from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be considered to a family fund, and sent to Martin Funeral Home 1148 W. Saginaw Road Vassar, Michigan 48768.
