Age 67, of Burton, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, peacefully at his home in Burton. A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Mt. Morris, with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jerry was born September 29, 1949, in Flint, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Beverly (Clark) Klinert. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1970. Jerry worked as a Sanitation Engineer for 30 years, until retiring from General Motors in 1995. He was a member of the Burton Eagles #3814. Jerry was an avid golfer and enjoyed hitting the links all over Michigan, as well as a classic car enthusiast. He loved to show off his 1949 Chevy Truck. Jerry was a lover of sports, especially watching his favorite pastime, baseball, rooting for the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and playing cards with his friends. Left to cherish his memory are his; wife, Marlene (Fenner) Klinert; two daughters: Erika, and Michele; five stepchildren; three brothers; one sister; one grandson; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Dick Dingman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
