Age 86, of Clio, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Jim Salo to officiate with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Thursday from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Jay’s memory may direct them towards the American Cancer Society. Mr. Hart was born August 4, 1930, in Richfield Township to the late Mr. and Mrs. Washington “Pat” and Emily (Fenner) Hart. Jay graduated from Gerrish-Higgins High School with the class of 1948. While attending Gerrish-Higgins, Jay met Naomi LaDonna Smith. The two were united in marriage on December 20, 1954. Sadly she preceded him in death on March 10, 2017. Jay served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was employed for 38 years with Buick Motor Division in Flint, before retiring on May 1, 1988. Jay was a dedicated, Husband, Father, and Father-in-law, and loved his Sunday dinners with his family. In his spare time, Jay enjoyed tinkering and doing yard work, babysitting his favorite granddog, Buddy, taking trips to Roscommon, and eating his favorite candy, Walnettos, and riding his bicycle. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Phil; and wife, Kim Hart, and Ron Hart; numerous nieces and nephews. Jay is welcomed into Heaven by his parents, wife of 62 years, Naomi (Smith) Hart, three brothers, and four sisters.
