Janis was born in Flint on October 20, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Margaret (Clink) Draper. Educated locally, Janis graduated from Flint Central High School with the Class of 1951. Janis was blessed to have grown up on her grandparents’ farm in Durand. She spoke very fondly of her time there. Janis was very witty and had a wonderful sense of humor. She could always make everyone laugh. She was a long-time member of the Woodside Church in Flint and she loved to sing in the choir. One of her favorite hobbies was bird watching. She loved and fed all birds of every kind. She just simply enjoyed their beauty. Janis loved her family and enjoyed taking her granddaughters out to lunch whenever they had a half day of school. In her free time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and reading anything she could get her hands on. She will be greatly missed. And as she always said “Watch out for the idiots.”
Left to cherish Janis’ memory are her children: Brenda Honsinger, Karen and husband, Mike Allen, Susan and husband, Dale Stephens, Gail and husband, Terry Harrison, Laurie and husband, Kevin Bone, Timothy Sadler; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry; and grandson, Gordon.
