Jan Roberts

Age 71, of Flint, passed away, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at home with her family by her side. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Tyge Zucker officiating with cremation to follow. Jan’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Monday from 5:30pm until 9:00 pm; and on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Jan was born in Detroit, on June 25, 1953, she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Archie and Virginia Frances (Nichols) Jones. Educated locally, Jan graduated from Beecher High School, with the class of 1971. She married the love of her life, Thomas Eugene Roberts in Flint on June 19, 1971. Jan enrolled in the nursing program at the Hurley School of Nursing; graduating with the class of 1975. Later she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University. Upon graduating, Jan would begin her career with Hurley Medical Center as a Registered Nurse, retiring in 2011. In Jan's free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flint, where she volunteered as the Parish Nurse, taught Bible study, and helped organize and run the food pantry. She was also a personal "Ask a Nurse" by many. Jan loved to take road trips with her family and was known for curling up to read a book (or 10 all at the same time). Jan could even read while watching TV. She loved sharing funny stories. Many remember the one about "good" tasting Boone’s Farm wine. Jan was also a member of the Genesee County Asthma Network, the American Lung Association Regional Board, and a supporter of The Church Without Walls.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom; two sons: Tommy and wife, Angel Roberts, Chad and wife, Megen Roberts, and daughter, Kelly and husband, TJ James; grandchildren: Emily, Sarah (Sean) Frechette, Andrew, Ben (Suzy Lobdell) Roberts, Codey (Adrianna) James, and Collin (Cerrah Cannon) James, Jade, Katie, and Jay; four great-grandchildren: Jason, Codey Jr., Keith, and Zeke; brother, Timmey Jones; and many other family members and friends.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Harold, Dean and Ricky; sister-in-law, Michelle.
