Janet Ann Morse

Age 84, of Genesee, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at Serenity Assisted Living with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Janet’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be considered to St. Mary Catholic Church. Janet was born in Akron on February 27, 1939, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Lula (Giroux) Beatenhead. Educated locally, Janet graduated with the Class of 1957. She was in the last class to graduate from the Mt Morris High School building which was located where Central now stands. Janet met and married the love of her life, LaVerne Morse, on June 29, 1957, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Sadly, he preceded her in death on December 5, 2021. Janet worked as a clerk typist for the State of Michigan until her retirement in 1992. Janet was well known for her love of Tab and then when she couldn’t find Tab any longer, she enjoyed drinking Diet Coke and Crème de Menthe, as well as eating plain Lays potato chips. Janet loved to gamble and go to the casino to play the penny slots. She also spent much time in her flower garden tending to her roses, tulips, and daffodils. Going to Mesick and Boone to hunt for Morrel mushrooms was one of the adventures she most enjoyed. She was a wonderful cook and loved to bake zucchini bread and pies and let’s not forget about her "rotten biscuits" and coffee cake. In her free time, Janet enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, and playing the organ and piano. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Janet's memory are her children: Theresa and husband, Dana Garchow, LaVerne and wife, Cheryl Morse, Beatrice and husband, Doug Burton, Kathleen and husband, Henry Pyrc; grandchildren: Dana, Joshua, Becky, Jason, Kyle, Tricia, Jessica; great-grandchildren: Haylee, Kelsey, Lyndsey, Shyann, Jacob; siblings: Robert Beatenhead and Jane Keeler; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.
