Age 94, of Mount Morris, died on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Flint, Michigan. In accordance with James’ wishes, he will be buried next to his wife, Betty in Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Johnson City, Tennessee. James was born on April 9, 1924, in Poplar, North Carolina, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Edith Tipton (Bryant). He proudly served his county in the US Army during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. James and Betsy “Betty” Roberts were united in marriage on October 24, 1946. Together they shared 67 years of matrimony and a love for their four-pawed kids. Sadly, Betty preceded him in death in 2013. James retired from Fisher Body G.M, after 30 years. In his free time, James was an active member of the Shriners and the Masons. Left to honor his memory, Brother- in- Law Glenn Roberts, nieces: Kinda Roberts-Cain, and Teena Roberts-Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty. James was the last surviving of the seven children; he was preceded in death by his three brothers and three sisters.
