James E. L. Rolfe

Age 91, of Genesee, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Cranberry Park Memory Care. A funeral service will take place at 1:00pm, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Zella Daniel and Pastor Ryan Walker to officiate with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. James’ family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Thetford United Methodist Men’s Group. James “Jim” was born in Crump, Michigan on April 5, 1932, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Luanna (Sugden) Rolfe. He attended Pinconning High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. Jim went on to obtain his associate degree in skilled trades at GMI. After graduation, he began working at General Motors as a Tool and Die maker until his retirement in 1987. Jim met and married the love of his life, Delores Seaton, on May 3, 1952. Sadly, she preceded him in death on February 6, 2022. Jim was an active member of the Genesee United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He also contributed to his community as a member of the all-volunteer Kearsley Genesee Rescue Squad. Family vacations consisted of camping in Gaylord and water skiing with his kids. Jim had many hobbies including pheasant and deer hunting. He spent many evenings playing Euchre or pinochle with friends and family. Jim spent most of his free time traveling and even became a snowbird, living part-time in Florida. He enjoyed working on antique cars and tinkering in his garage as well as collecting model cars, antique tools, and coins. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish James' memory are his children: Karen and husband, Dave Pool, Paula Peterson, Kevin and wife, Theresa Rolfe; grandchildren: Jason, Robert and wife, Jennifer, Daniel, Meagan, Nicholas, Alison, Teddy; great-grandchildren: Ivy, Iris, Reed, Brayden, Asher, Ethan; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and great friends: Mike, Theresa, Zella, and Theresa.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores; parents; children: James Rolfe, and Cheryl Rolfe; granddaughter, Alexandra "Lexi" Rolfe; sister, Dorothy McMahon.
