James Hill

Of Clio, age 69, died Sunday, October 24, 2010 at home. The funeral service will take place 9:30am, Friday, October 29, 2010 at the More Life Tabernacle in Swartz Creek. Pastor Jerry Stoner will officiate with burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. JamesAaa family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Thursday, from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. On Friday James will be taken to church to lie in state from 8:30am until time of service at 9:30am. James was born August 11, 1941 in Sault Ste, Marie, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Alice (Pomeroy) Hill. He and Ruth Kimsel were united in marriage August 6, 1966 in Flint. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1963. James worked for Buick for 32 years before retiring in December 2001 and was a member of UAW Local #599. James enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing basketball with his grandchildren, volleyball, horseshoes, board games, cards and playing on his church softball team. James leaves to cherish his memory, wife Ruth; 4 children; Marina Hill, Dan (Lisa) Hill, Diana (Rev. Dwight) Taylor, Roberta (Bryan) Spooner; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson, 3 siblings, Martin Gluck, Patricia Gluck and Linda Rushing and several nieces, nephews and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents.
