James L. Bovan, age 87, of Flushing, died Saturday, December 30, 2017, at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. In accordance with James' wishes, cremation has taken place. No further services are scheduled at this time. James was born November 20, 1930, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frances and Lucile (Meyers) Bovan. He and Patsy Jean Bérubé were united in marriage on March 24, 1956, in Munising, Michigan. After receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, James went on to become a supervisor at Flint Truck Assembly for many years, until his retirement in 1987. In his free time, James enjoyed playing and watching sports, including golf, track and field, pool, and tennis. He also enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. James always had a smile on his face, and was a great provider for his family; he will be remembered by his love and laughter. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patsy; his four children: Connie (Phil) Kruzan, Frank Bovan, Jane (John) Hock, and Marc (Nita) Bovan; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Strand; and special friend Granny Aucker. The family would also like to recognize the members of the "Coffee Clutch" at Duffy's in Flushing, and Bueche's Food World in Flushing. James was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Lucile; sister, Betty Lou Bovan-Arnold; and brother, Gilbert Bovan.
