Of Flint, age 85, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at home.. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Chittenden will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00pn to 8:00pm, and on Friday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Lakes Baptist Temple. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jack was born August 26, 1924 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs.William and Gertrude Wagner. He and Dorothy Lee Greaves were united in marriage April 6, 1957 in Angola, IN. Jack served his country during World War II with the United States Navy aboard the destroyer, the USS Sampson. Upon his completition of his tour of duty, he returned to work at General Motors, where he became involved with the UAW. Jack served as President of Buick Local #599, as well as International Rep for UAW Region 1-C, before becoming Assistant Regional Director of Region 1-C. He served as National Chairman of the 30 and out Committee, continuing on as the Honorary National Chairman of 30 and out. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing, his entire life. Jack leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Bryan and wife Sandra Wagner, and Jack and wife Brenda Wagner, step daughter Susan Norling, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Mariam and husband Gordon Routely, and Verda Mello, friend Don Spillman, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, son Gary, and sister Mildred Burgoyne.
