Of Genesee, age 87, died Monday, February 7, 2011 at home. The funeral service will take place, Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Erwin Saultman will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the Genesee Township Firefighters Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jack was born January 10, 1924 in Genesee, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Lena (Scott) Hitchcock. Jack proudly served his country in World War II. He served as a Medical Technician in the ArmyAaas 95th Infantry and was decorated for his involvement in the Invasion of Normandy and served with General George PattonAaas Tank Divisions at The Battle of the Bulge. He worked for Advance Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was a Genesee Township Firefighter for 62 years and he was active until his death. He served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Genesee Township Fire Department from 1948 to the present. He enjoyed playing golf in the Senior League and the Over the Hill Gang, at Kearsley Lake. Jack leaves to cherish his memory, special nephew, Curtis and wife Marsha St. John, and special niece Gloria Eurich, great niece and nephews, Dana St. John, Melinda and husband Craig Bartley, great-great-nephew C.J. Bartley, and great-great niece Grace Bartley, sister-in-law, Ann Wilson, and several other nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Pearl and husband Gilbert Beckley, Frieda and husband Lyle Reeser, Bernice and husband Arville St. John, Mable and husband Albert Powell, Phyllis and husband Martin Peterson and Betty Hitchcock, brothers, Richard AaA"DutchAaA and wife Frances Hitchcock and Donald Drudge. JackAaas family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Perez and McLaren Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
