Of Mt. Morris, age 78, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Monday, January 29, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Narethaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm and Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. On Sundayafternoon, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 3:00 pm. On Monday morning, Naretha will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until the time of service at 11am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Genesys Hospice Care Center. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Naretha was born September 6, 1928 in Mt. Morris Twp. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Wahnetah (VanNorman) Lavigne. She and Raymond Gillies were united in marriage June 17, 1946 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Flint. He preceded her in death January 17, 2007. She attended St. Maryas School in Mt. Morris and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris for most of her life. Naretha enjoyed bingo, cooking and baking for her family and neighbors, most of all she dedicated her life to her family. Left to cherish her memory are her son: Thomas and wife Jody Gillies of Lansing, daughter: Judith and husband Phil Valkoun of Mt. Morris, daughter-in-law: Denise Gillies of Mt. Morris, seven grandchildren: Brent and wife Carey Trombly of Traverse City; Denise and husband Steve Faculak of Davison, Mark and wife Betty Trombly of Mt. Morris, Tony and wife Carrie Gillies of Mt. Morris, Brian Gillies of Mt. Morris, Stacey and husband Jeremy Langworthy of Davison, Morgan Gillies of Lansing; eight great-grandchildren: Amber, Lauren, Mark, Torrey, Madison, Blake, Natalie, and Nicholas, two brothers: Lance and wife Gloria Lavigne and Garth Lavigne of Mt. Morris, brother-in-law: Ronald and wife Marian Gillies of Grand Blanc; numerous special friends and neighbors who will sadly miss her. Naretha was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Raymond, son: Anthony on May 6, 1997, three sisters: Ardele Nermann, Bonnie Copenhaver and Onalee Bradford, and two brothers: Bill and Blaine Lavigne.
