Hazel Carrier, age 96, of Fairhope, Alabama, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at home in Fairhope. In accordance with Hazel’s wishes, private burial service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Hazel was born August 14, 1919, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Arthur and Dorothy Louise (Robertson) Spalding. She graduated from Flint Northern High School. She married Richard D. Carrier on August 28, 1938, in Columbus, Indiana. Sadly, he preceded her in death on September 03, 1989. Hazel was Grand Guardian for the State of Michigan Job’s Daughters organization and is a Past Matron of Mt. Morris OES #474. In her free time, Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, was a seamstress, and avid reader. Left to cherish her memory, her daughter, Beth Carrier; son, Richard Carrier; foster children: Linda and Wesley; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Della Cook, two brothers: Arthur and Stuart Spalding, and her sister Oriel Snyder.
