Harry Mcclure

December 24, 1939 — April 22, 2018

Harry Paul McClure 78, passed away peacefully at home in Roscommon, MI surrounded by family on Sunday, April 22, 2018. A funeral service will take place Monday, April 30, 2018 at Martin Funeral Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 am Monday morning. Harry was born to Eugene and Helen (Millen) McClure on December 24, 1939, in Burton, Michigan along with his twin brother Harold. He graduated in 1959 from Bentley High School. He served honorably in the United States Army overseas from September 1963 to September 1965, earning a Good Conduct medal and qualified as a sharpshooter. When he returned to the United States he met and married George Ann Mikesell in May of 1966 and together they had three children. After the end of their marriage in 1977, his children with their mother eventually moved to Northern Michigan. Over the endless miles, driven Harry continued to be a dad who was always available and dedicated to his three children. He loved watching his kids participate in many school activities. Taking countless photos from the sidelines as a self-titled (Ace News Reporter). Harry’s endless love and selfless generosity extended beyond his children to various organizations and charities. He was baptized Catholic and attended church regularly in Mount Morris at St. Mary’s. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and was particularly proud of the 1984 World Series Team. He loved fishing for salmon in the Fall up North and was very good at gardening. He loved a wide range of music and radio personalities. This led to another hobby of his which he incorporated into his work life. While employed in Flint with G.M., Harry would create and host from his fictional radio station at home cassette recorded music/radio programs. As (The Tune Smith from WHPM) he would bring his tapes to work with him and play them for his co-workers on the line for entertainment. Harry retired from GM in 2005 after 28.5yrs of service. Harry was a very proud, patriotic man who loved his family and country. He was able to enjoy watching his children become parents themselves. Harry was a fantastic father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be missed by his children and family. Left to cherish his memory are, sons: Sean McClure, wife Lindi; Joel McClure, wife Kirsten. Daughter; Holly Holm, husband Joel. Grand Children: Alyssa Carney, husband Ben; Haley Penn, husband Andy; Lauren Holm; Kyler Kigar; Rogan McClure; Abby Holm; Conrad Holm; Eric Holm; Great-Grand Children: Isabella; Lucas; Wesley. Brothers: Harold McClure; and Neal McClure, wife Edna. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Lewis, Joseph, William, Leo, and Albert. Sisters: Ruth, Florence, Patricia, Wanda, and Alberta.
