Harold "Gene" Lamb

Harold Eugene “Gene” Lamb was born March 14, 1931, in Hickman, Kentucky, and died February 16, 2019, at McLaren Hospital in Flint, surrounded by his family. He married Linda Sue Seay May 22, 1949, in Corinth, Mississippi. Plans were being made to celebrate their 70th anniversary in May. Gene served as an elder of the Mt. Morris Church of Christ for 50 years. He was the elder in charge of overseeing the mission work of the congregation in the rural bush area of Nigeria. This work began in 1986 with five students in an old run-down building. Today it consists of a Nursery/Primary School, high school, 4-year Christian University, and hospital. At least 49 congregations of the Lord’s church have been established. The Nursery/Primary school is named the “Gene and Sue Lamb Nursery/Primary School.” Gene worked at Buick Motor Division for 42 years and retired in 1992. In his free time, Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing guitar and singing country music, and using computers. He is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Vickie Cheek and husband Tom, daughter Cindy Brissette and husband Paul; four grandchildren: Jenni Schlicht and husband John, Jordan Cheek and wife Sarah, Mike and Joe Brissette; six great-grandchildren: Bobby and wife Krystal, Hanna, Libbie, Abby, Erika, and Faith; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eugene; his father and mother Raymond and Annie Lamb; brothers: Nolan and Ray Lamb; sisters: Christell Lane and Zona Scott. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the “Gene and Sue Nursery/Primary School.” Checks for the school should be made out to the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Minister Jim Watson officiating with burial to follow at Mt. Morris Cemetery. Gene’s family will be present at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Tuesday, to receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Gene will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
