Age 84, of Clio, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, August 19, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Bill Wegher to officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery; graveside military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158 in Clio. Harold’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Thursday, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm; Friday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. Friday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at 7:00 pm to pray the rosary. On Saturday morning, Harold will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Harold was born March 12, 1933, in Flint, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Lillian (Rood) Belanger. He graduated from St Mary Catholic School with the class of 1951; from there, Harold would continue his education at General Motors Institute. He worked at General Motors as a pattern maker retiring in 1988, after 28 years. Harold proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He and Patricia O’Brien were united in marriage on February 23, 1957, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Together they shared nearly 60 wonderful years together. Sadly, she preceded him in death on January 25, 2017. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #599 and a member of the American Legion Post #158 in Clio. In his free time, Harold enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, going to the casino, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers and U of M football fan. Left to cherish his memory, three children: Sandra and husband, David Miller, Amy and husband, Steven Gibbs, Jerold Belanger, and fiancée, Holly Keros; two grandsons: Steven Gibbs, Eric Gibbs; two granddaughters: Kristian Belanger, and Lauryn Gibbs; two sisters-in-law: Sandra O’Brien, and Maxine Stiffler; friends Jack Eisele, Dan Dolan, and Art (Bev) Cote. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, brothers Eugene and Alfred, and his brother-in-law Tom O’Brien. .
