Gregory "Greg" Pallay was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31, 1945, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Andrew and Ruth (Haga) Pallay. Raised and educated in Royal Oak, Greg graduated from Kimball High School in 1964. Greg had a passion for learning and went on to earn his associate degree in Electronic Engineering. He was involved with many projects linking him with technology, which he loved. After working for 29 years as an Electrical Superintendent at the Detroit News, Greg retired and began a new career as a Master Electrician working for the U.S. Government. He worked for several years in Iraq and Afghanistan before he decided to relax and enjoy retirement full time. Greg was a member of the United Methodist Church in Goodrich for many years. He was known for tinkering with things, and enjoyed repairing electronics and other machinery; he could fix anything, one way or another. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, from teaching his boys how to fish in the family pond he was so fond of to observing the wildlife and birdwatching in the backyard. If not outside, you could find Greg inside watching a Detroit Tigers game or reruns of M*A*S*H and Charlie Chan. Most of all, Greg loved spending time with his family. He really enjoyed his grandchildren, loved playing and watching them have fun. Left to cherish Greg’s memory are his sons: Joel (Tori) and Josh (Amanda); grandsons: Jude, Zeke and Jonah; granddaughters: Ripley and Sophia; brother: David (Sharon) Pallay; sisters: Cindy and Christine; dear friends: Frank Gillett and Dick Kalcec; well-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Greg was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Ruth Pallay, and the beloved family cat, Thumbs.
