Of Mount Morris, age 74, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30am, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park with Graveside Military Honors. George's family will gather at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends on Friday from 9:00am to 9:00pm. Friday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home for a Scripture Service at 7:00pm. On Saturday morning, George will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:30am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30am. George was born July 24, 1936 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noah and Geraldine (Hubbell) Guest. He and Nancy A. Guest (Mantei) were united in marriage September 20, 1958 at St. Mary Catholic Church. George served in the United States Army from 1955 until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1958. His career would lead him to General Motors, where he worked at "Chevy in the Hole" as a forklift driver for 30 years, until his retirement in 1989. Following his career at GM, George also worked for H & R Block and Martin Funeral Home. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris and a member of UAW Local #659. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building bird houses and, most importantly, was always there for his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy A. Guest, four children, Michael and wife Pam Guest,George Guest, Jr.,Theresa and husband Thomas Moody, John and wife Mary Guest, eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren,brother, James and wife Jane Guest, sister, Judy and husband Fred Austin,lifelong friend, Bob and wife Mary O'Toole, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Charles and Thomas Guest and grandson, John Matthew Guest.
