Florence was born in Flint on July 12, 1923, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Frances (Hart) Schoeppach. Educated locally, Florence attended Mt. Morris High School and graduated with the Class of 1941. Florence met and married the love of her life on July 6, 1943, in Mt. Morris. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 28, 2020. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing basketball and softball as well as bowling on a league at Colonial Lanes. Florence enjoyed attending church and is a member of the Swartz Creek Methodist Church. She also was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She never missed a game which she loved watching with her son. Florence was an avid reader of old Western novels as well as poems. She had two poem books that her mother gave her that she loved to read to her children. Many years ago, she and her husband owned a small store in Mt. Morris that she tended to with her kids in tow. Florence was a very outspoken woman and always spoke her mind. In her free time, she enjoyed having her nails painted, playing scrabble, and spending time with her family. First and foremost, Florence was a mother and loved caring for her children. She enjoyed riding around Michigan, with a picnic lunch packed just to spend the day with her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Florence’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Genesee Gardens, as well as her friend, Mary, and her warm and caring caretakers, Misty, Julie, Crystal, Tye, and Tyrone. We knew she was in good hands with you all. We cannot forget how much she enjoyed her meals with Greg, Bill, and Gary, the men who made sure she got her meals.
Left to cherish Florence's memory are her children: Michael and wife, Diane Baker, Charles Baker, Kathleen Baker, Rodney Baker, Terry and wife, Tina Baker; grandchildren: Christy and husband, Matt, Shawn, Stephanie and husband, Joe, Staci and husband, Tom; great-grandchildren: Gage, Thomas, Garrett, Brenden; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 76 years, Francis; her parents; 11 brothers and sisters.
