Faye Cockrill

March 22, 1929 — May 5, 2020

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 10 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral. Age 91, of Mt. Morris Township, went home to be with her Lord, at her home, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. A private funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Martin Funeral Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Paul St. Louis will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association. Please visit Faye's tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com. Faye was born March 22, 1929, in Newport, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Gladys (Osborn) Kemp. Raised in Arkansas, Faye was educated locally. As a young woman, Faye would meet the love of her life, Clinton E. Cockrill. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on October 28, 1945, in Newport, Arkansas. In 1949, the couple moved their family to Michigan and made Flint their home. Faye was a busy homemaker for many years, tending to her family. She was a longtime member of Pine Run Church of Christ and devoted to the Lord. After her children were old enough to care for themselves, Faye returned to the workforce as a nurse's aid at Fostrian Manor Nursing Home in Flushing. She cared for patients for 13 years before retiring. Faye was devoted to her family, and in her free time, she enjoyed sewing, traveling, and gardening. Faye leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Calvin and wife, Kaye Cockrill, Glenda and husband, Phillip Wardosky, Nellie and husband, Gary Figgins, Mary A. Smith, and Donna and husband, Gordon Gehl; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister Helen Gower. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clinton; son-in-law, David P. Smith; and sister, Billie Freeman.
