Eva Agnes (LaBean) McPherson, age 92, of Genesee, died Monday, April 25, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Eva’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Genesee Twp., on Thursday, from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 pm. On Thursday evening, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Friday afternoon, Eva will be taken to church to lie in state from 1:00 pm until time of Mass at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Eva was born on March 18, 1924 in Pinconning, Michigan. Eva moved to Flint during WWII and worked at the AC Plant, where she made machine gun parts. She met Bob McPherson while in Flint, and they were united in marriage in June of 1949. Eva and Bob had five children: Tim (Karen) McPherson, Monte (Donna) McPherson, Scot McPherson, Mike (Debbie) McPherson, and Lesa (Rich) Wackerle. She also had 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Myrtle Pletos, and Marian Davison. Eva was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris for many years, transferring from St. Francis of Assisi when it closed. She was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary’s. She was also a leader of the St. Francis Guild for 20 years, and instrumental in writing the history of the St. Mary Parish in 2003. In addition to her church activities, she was involved in many other community activities. She graduated from Mott Community College with an Associate’s degree and worked at Meijer for 13 years. Eva’s great joy in life was her family, particularly her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed; making quilts, arranging flowers, scrap booking, painting, writing poems, cake decorating, and participating in many activities with the Red Hat Grannies and at the Krapohl Center. Eva was preceded in death by her parents John and Clara LaBean, husband Robert, two sisters: Elizabeth “Betty” Hall, Loretta Jane LaBean, brother Vernon John LaBean, and her daughter-in-law Sue.
