Elvie Mellan

Of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at home. The memorial service will take place 7:00pm, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. ElvieAaas family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the VFW. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Elvie was born February 7, 1926, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathew and Lillian (Hall) Mellan. Elvie worked for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and volunteering his time to disabled children. Elvie leaves to cherish his memory, niece and nephew, Jim and wife Cindy Allen, Rita and husband Jerry Burton, six great nieces and nephews; Darryl, Troy, Christy, Shawn, Matthew and Michael and six great-great nieces and nephews, Travis, Beau, Brooke, McKenzie, Carter and Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Opal and brother, Ray and nephew, David.
