Edward “Ed” was born in Pemberton, Wigan, England, on January 19, 1926, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Mary (Rollins) Nicholls, Sr. Ed was drafted into the United States Army April 6, 1944, where he proudly served his country in WWII, until his honorable discharge on June 2, 1946. Upon his return to the states, Ed would meet and marry, Beatrice Armstrong, on January 27, 1947. Together they raised nine children. Sadly, she preceded him in death on May 30, 1982. Ed worked for AC Spark Plug as a job setter for over 33 years until his retirement. He was well known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. In his younger years, Ed enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law. Ed could fix anything you put in front of him. He was an amazing handyman and enjoyed tinkering until he figured out how to fix it, whether it was a clock, watches, or cars, he could fix anything. His favorite meal was goulash, and his all-time favorite snack was ice cream. It didn’t matter what flavor, as long as it was ice cream. Ed loved children, especially the little ones in his life. He enjoyed taking trips up north to see his daughter and take her to lunch. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Ed's memory are his children: Anne and husband, Bob Randall, Joyce and husband, Dave Staup, Edward and wife, Debrah Nicholls, Susan and husband, Terry McQueen, Irene and husband, Chuck Dickie, Mary and husband, Bob Angliss, John and wife, Luann Nicholls, Michael and wife, Shari Nicholls; 28 grandchildren: many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, son, Gerald; grandsons: Danny and Donny; siblings: Tom, William, and Evelyn, and significant other, Vera.
