Edward Misener

August 21, 1921 — December 1, 2015

Age 94, of Flint, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Willowbrook Manor in Flint. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc. Pastor Dave Hintz will officiate with entombment to follow in Crestwood Cemetery. Edward’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 3:00 pm until 7:30 pm and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the charity of their choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Edward was born August 21, 1921, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. and Josephine A. (Wolff) Misener. After graduating from Bay City High School, Edward would go on to heed the call of his country serving with the US Army during World War II, in the European Theatre from 1942 to 1945. Upon his return to civilian life, he would meet a young woman by the name of Dora Decator on a blind date. They dated for three months, fell in love and were united in marriage July 6, 1946 at Court Street United Methodist Church in Flint. Edward’s career path would lead him to GM, where he worked with Ternstedt for over 30 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge #535 F. & A. M., Grotto and the Elf Khurafeh Shriners. Edward was an avid bowler and poker player, wintered in Florida since the late 1970’s and was known for his sense of humor and practical jokes. He we be lovingly missed. Left to cherish his memory are: his daughter, Janet and husband Don York, two grandsons, Edward and wife Victoria Wilson and Michael and wife Wendy Wilson, two great-grandchilden, Drake and Jayda Wilson, close family friends, Harry Headrick, Linda and Stewart Barnes and the staff of Barnes, Bernard and Associates and Haila Lewis and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Lorne, Robert and Roy, and a sister, Jean. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Willowbrook Manor, especially LaKreshia.
