Of Flushing, age 90, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Birchwood Meadows. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Dorothy was born August 23, 1921, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin and Lucille (Hodge) Jakeway. She and Donald Topolinski were united in marriage in 1947. Dorothy proudly served her country in the United States Army as a Registered Nurse 2nd Lieutenant during World War II. She worked as a Registered Nurse and Night Supervisor for McLaren General Hospital in the cardiac care unit, until her retirement. She continued working at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey for several years. Left to cherish her memory are three children, Timothy and wife, Patricia Topolinski, Nancy A. Topolinski and Stephen and wife, Cynthia Topolinski; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne and husband, Robert Jones, brother, Edwin and wife, Suzanne Jakeway; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald; two sons, Michael and John, daughter, Colleen and granddaughter, Jody.
