COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 10 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral. Age 86, of Vassar, died Friday, April 10, 2020, at her home with her family by her side. In accordance with Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service, celebrating Donna’s life, will take place at a later date. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions in Donna’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The eldest of ten children, Donna, was born in Saginaw, on June 22, 1933, to Mr. and Mrs. David and Alvia (Pollen) Sabraw. Educated locally, she graduated from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School in Saginaw with the Class of 1951. Knowing James Spencer all of her life, when he returned home from the Marines, they began dating, and soon after, they were engaged and married on May 2, 1953, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee. Together the two loved to play cards, spend time with friends, go camping, and travel all over Michigan. After 56 years together, James died on December 17, 2009. Donna loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and keeping her mind sharp by reading, doing crosswords, and watching Jeopardy. Donna is survived by her five children: Cynthia and husband, Terry Baxter, Michele Foss, Jamie Sowers, Steven Spencer, and Denise and husband James Beauregard; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and five siblings: Patricia Dey, Barbara Jasienski, David Sabraw, Richard Sabraw, and Joseph Sabraw. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband; and four siblings: Michael Sabraw, Linda Sabraw, John Sabraw, and Lowell Sabraw.
