Donna Jane Griffin

Donna Jane Griffin (née Hewitt), age 95, of Clio, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home

on December 7, 2022, after a brief illness.

Donna was born in Marlette, Michigan, to Alfred and Maude Hewitt on January 18, 1927. She loved attending Marlette schools and later attended Bob Jones University. Donna married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Griffin, and they enjoyed a long marriage and raised five busy children together.

Devoted to her family, she also loved entertaining, being involved in many musical adventures, and was an active member of First Baptist Church (Mt. Morris). Her work at Pinehurst Elementary School was very important to her, and she is remembered fondly by many of the children she taught. Donna had a curious mind and loved to learn about new places, read books, and study maps. Her love for the outdoors, including gardening and beaches, was passed down to her devoted family.

Donna is survived by sons: Chris Griffin (Clio) and Brent Griffin (Clio), daughter, Melissa Glorioso (Cleveland, Ohio), daughter-in-law, Cindy Griffin (Davison), daughter-in-law, Jennifer Griffin (Dayton, Ohio) and daughter-in-love, Barb Shaw. In addition, she leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Donna is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Hugh Griffin, her parents, loving sons: Craig Griffin and Todd Griffin, and grandson, Jacob Griffin.

Funeral service will take place at the First Baptist Church-Mt. Morris, Michigan, on Tuesday, December 13, at 11:00 am. with Rev. David Holdren and Rev. Kevin Dixson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Morris Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Carriage Town Ministries, 605 Garland St., Flint, MI 48503, in honor of Donna Griffin.
