Donald Rutledge

Age 84, of Flint, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Genesys Health Park of Grand Blanc. A funeral service will take place at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services-Mt. Morris, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Greg Capsel will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Donald’s memory, may direct them to American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mr. Rutledge was born January 27, 1932 in Flint, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Carl and Beulah (Evans) Rutledge. Donald dedicated much of his free time to the golf course, and loved golfing with his children. He also enjoyed bowling, going to local auctions, being a gentleman farmer at home. Donald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of UAW Local 599. Left to cherish his memory are his five children: Don Rutledge Jr. (Gloria), Melissa Bailey (John), Mike Rutledge (Sue), Gloriana Rutledge, and Sandy Rutledge; Special niece, Elaine Rutledge; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Rutledge (Jerridene); four sisters, Shirley, Charlotte, Janet, and Carla; several nieces, nephews and cousins; life time friend, Chuck Laney and deceased wife, Delores; special friend, Larry Blakely. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 52 years, Nordeen, and four sisters: Lorene, Wanda, Bonnie, and Barbara.
