Donald "Keith" was born in Detroit, on July 15, 1920, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Gertrude (Shearing) Rohrer. Educated locally, Keith graduated from Ypsilanti High School with the Class of 1938. Keith was drafted into the United States Army Signal Corps where he proudly served his country from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. While serving in the Army, Keith was stationed in Brazil, where he ran teletypes and strung wires for communication. Keith worked at the Hoover Company in Flint, which is where he met his beautiful wife, Nida Carrier. The two were united in marriage on June 12, 1943. Sadly, she preceded him in death on September 21, 2013. In 1946, Keith worked various positions at AC Spark Plug; retiring in 1988 as an Engineer. Keith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris working as the Financial Secretary for 20 years as well as a member of the Sanctuary Building Committee. Keith enjoyed bowling and joined a league when he worked at AC at Southland Lanes and also at the bowling alley in Mt. Morris, which is now a law office. He was also a member at Vienna Greens as he loved to golf. He would golf at other locations as well but Vienna Greens was his favorite course. Keith enjoyed delving into genealogy. Reading was one of his favorite pastimes, and he would read any kind of fiction book from the Clio library. Keith enjoyed traveling around the United States, especially to see family. Keith was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and the University of Michigan. Not only did he enjoy watching the games, but he also liked to take his children to games. For his 100th year, Keith was able to go with the nursing home to watch the Midland Loons and that was a wonderful trip. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cranberry Park for the wonderful care they provided for the last seven years, and to Cardinal Hospice for their compassionate care of Keith in his final days. Left to cherish Keith's memory are his sons: Thomas Rohrer and Jack and wife, Debbie Rohrer; grandchildren: Tracy of Decatur Georgia, Angela of San Diego, CA.; sister: Elaine McCalla of Chelsea, MI; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, parents; brothers, Max and Hugh.
