Donald Pashby

Age 93, of Millington, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at his home in Millington. A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 3, 2017, at Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar. Pastor Jackie Ahern to officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Vassar on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring to make memorial contributions in Donald’s memory may direct them towards the Millington Boy Scout Troop #552 or to Grace Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Donald was born January 17, 1924, in Flint, to the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Edna (Gower) Pashby. He and Vera Knoll were united in marriage on April 24, 1953. Donald served proudly in World War II and was an Icon in the Millington Boy Scout Community, Troop #552. While raising his family, Donald spent time taking them camping and fishing. Don and Vera enjoyed retirement, traveling through the U.S and visiting many national parks and U.S. landmarks. He had a passion for reading and was a lifelong learner. Most of all, Donald loved spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vera (Knoll) Pashby; Children: LaVerne and wife Sheral Pashby, Debra and husband, Walt Ostrander, Bonnie and husband, Ron Wittum, Jean and husband, Buck Harsen, and Alan and wife, Judy Pashby; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Stifler. Donald is welcomed to heaven by his parents, two brothers, Lawrence and Marvin, and sister Thelma. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff at Heartland Hospice for their care and support.
