Of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Home. The funeral service will take place 2:00pm, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev. Berniece Matejcek will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Donald's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 5:00pm to 8:00pm, on Friday, 9:00am to 8:00pm and on Saturday, from 12:00noon until time of service at 2:00pm. Donald "Don" was born April 2, 1935 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Maud (Crooks) Bennett. He and Dolores M. Burkett were united in marriage March 20, 1971 in Flint. Don attended Beecher Schools until 11th grade and graduated from Mt. Morris High Class of 1954. He proudly served in the United States Navy for two years before receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1959. He worked as a meat cutter for Kroger on Clio Rd. in Flint for several years and at General Motors Truck & Bus for 39 years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of UAW Local # 598. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching the Detroit Tigers, playing baseball, and bowling. Donald leaves to cherish his memory, wife Dolores, two daughters; Kristi and husband Rich Remmerde of Vancouver WA, Carlene and husband Vern of TX, two sons; Henry and wife Mary Kay of Spokane WA, and David and wife Debbie of TX, three brothers; Victor and wife Donna of Flint, Robert and wife Ann of Scottsville MI, and Albert and wife Judy of Bay City MI, six grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents. DonAaas family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda, Shelan, Crystal and Angie of Hospice Advantage.
