Age 87, of Mt. Morris, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, January 3, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris; Pastor Kevin Dixson to officiate with a private burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Dolores' family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Thursday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Friday morning, Dolores will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Dolores was born in Flint on April 16, 1932, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Ialene (Price) Herriman. Dolores married the love of her life, Syend Petersen on November 25, 1949. Sadly, he preceded her in death. She volunteered as a Girl Scout co-leader and a Cub Scout leader for many years. Dolores worked at Citizens Bank for 23 years, mainly for their Mt. Morris branch, retiring as an assistant manager in 1990. She was also a long-time devout member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. In her free time, Dolores enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Dolores was known for being a very well organized person who had a time and day set for everything. On Monday, she spent her day grocery shopping, Tuesday through Friday, she had set for various actives from playing bingo to visiting with friends. Saturday was her housekeeping day with Wednesday, and Sunday reserved for her time with the Lord. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jane LaVictoire; sons: Jeff Petersen, John Petersen; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, one niece, and three nephews; sister, Jane Galens; and many friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Syend; son, James; special friend, Don Blakey.
