Deanna Joyce Ostrander

Age 84, of Mount Morris, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Maple Woods Manor in Clio. In accordance with Deanna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Morris at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Deanna was born September 24, 1937, in Otter Lake, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Vernon (Larkin) Hemingway. Educated locally, Deanna graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1956. During her time at school, she met her future husband, Peter Ostrander. Deanna and Peter were married on September 12, 1959, enjoying 56 happy years together. Their union would be blessed with three children. Deanna was an excellent homemaker and mother who loved her family deeply. Deanna loved any activity that involved family and friends; golfing, bowling, and during the summer months there was always a swimming pool full of guests; she loved swimming. As Deanna’s children grew up, the whole family would spend summers at the campgrounds in Otter Lake, with the firework shows being fondly remembered. A past Mount Morris School Board President, Deanna was a dedicated board member for eight years. Left to cherish her memory are her children: son, Peter Ostrander, and wife, Catherine; daughter, Dawn Ostrander; son, Todd Ostrander, and wife, Dawn; grandchildren; Nicholas, Regan, Ryan, and Tyler; sister, Linda Voelck; and many nieces and nephews. Deanna is preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepmother, Virginia (Pease) Hemingway, her loving husband, brothers, Robert Hemingway and Ralph Hemingway, and sisters, Shirley Hammond and Connie Mullens.
