Of Oscoda, Michigan, formerly of Flint, age 73, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, December 29, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney in Flint. Darold’s family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Thursday from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm then 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Thursday evening, family and friends will gather at 6:00 pm to share their memories and say scripture in honor of Darold. On Friday, Darold will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial Donations may be directed to Paralyzed Veterans of America. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at church. Darold was born February 28, 1944, in Flint, the son of the late John J. and Viola M. (Hunter) Keely. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Flint and earned his Associates Degree from Mott Community College. He married Sheilah Cuthbertson Olivo on April 17, 2010, in Flint. Darold was an avid fisherman, he loved camping and spending time with his family. He served three years in the U.S. Army, (1962-65), and spent one year in Korea. He was a very proud veteran! In his younger years, Darold worked at General Motors, owned a few small businesses and was part owner of Carriage Town Vending. He retired from Coley Vending in Flint. Darold will always be remembered for his love of people, his sense of humor and his many “skits” and costumes at family gatherings. Surviving are: wife, Sheilah of Oscoda, two daughters: Michelle Keely of South Carolina, Casandra (John) Smith of Texas; two sons: Shane (Natalie) Keely of Grand Blanc and Wesley (Nicole) Keely of Grandville, Michigan; step-daughter Patrice Olivo, step-son Nathaniel Olivo; grandchildren: Alexandra, Jordan, Noelani, Madeline, Ian, Marlana, Alexis, Mia-Rae, Tyler, Brooklyn, Kurstin and Michael; and great-granddaughter Kinsley. Darold is also survived by siblings: Dorothy McClanahan, Viola (Peachie) Witter, Jerry (Kathy) Keely, and Beverley (Danny) Feckovic, and many nieces and nephews and cousins, including special cousins LaVerne and Donnie Prime. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Viola, son Jason Croft, sisters Marian Wills and Lila Moss, brothers, Jack, Wally, Billy and Bob Keely, and special nephew and buddy, Bard McClanahan who preceded him in death on December 16, 2017.
