Age 92, of Clio, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at McLaren Flint. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Reverend Erik Cloeter to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Darlene’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com. Darlene was born in Flint, on May 23, 1929, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Myron and Sophie Louise (Marwede) Jacobs. Educated locally, Darlene graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1947. Darlene met and married her first husband, Melvin Hartfield, on July 28, 1951. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 4, 1987. After some time, she then met and married Harry Linman on March 4, 2000. Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 7, 2011. Darlene was a Data Review Technician for the United States Government, working in Washington D.C. before moving back to Michigan to work for the Social Security Administration until her retirement in 1985. Working was her passion. Darlene enjoyed traveling with Ann's Adventures. She loved to order things from QVC for her family and friends. She was a very generous and kindhearted person. Camping in her trailer all over Michigan and in the U.P. and Canada, Kentucky, and Ohio was one of her favorite pastimes. She loved to camp at Outdoor Adventures with her family after her husbands passed away. She went everywhere with her sister and enjoyed boating and camping in Au Gres where she owned property. She was a very independent woman that could take care of herself. She was a very social person that enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Darlene leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter, Melissa and husband, Christopher Chamberlain, great-granddaughters: Kaitlyn Chamberlain, Breanna Huetteman; sister, Joann and husband, James Sutherland; nieces: Joy and husband, Tom Royal, II, and Julie and husband, Duane Cotton; great-nieces and nephews: Stephanie, James, Danyelle, Steven, Samantha; great-great nieces and nephews: Lillianna, Nicholas, Caleb, Mackenzie, Bailey, Taylor; several other relatives and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Hartfield, second husband, Harry Linman, parents, and her son, Rodney Hartfield.
