Of Mt. Morris, age 75, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Brians House Hospice. The funeral service will take place, 11:00 am, Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Flint, where he was a member. Rev David Daniel will officiate with burial to follow in Sunset Hills, with graveside military honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 158. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Wednesday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Jim will be taken to church, where he will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be considered to Calvary Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Jim was born May 11, 1936, in Bird City, Kansas. He and Cleo Milliken were united in marriage on October 29, 1955 She preceded him in death on August 5, 2001. He later married Jacqulyn Hauck on October 25, 2002. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1973 as a Boiler Tender First Class. He then went to work at Hurley Medical Center, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed horses, raising Leader Dogs for the Blind, parachuting, rodeos, and ultra light pilot. He was a member of the Genesee Lions Club and the Lake Fenton Sportsman's Club. Left to cherish his memory, his wife, Jacqulyn; children, Lesa and husband Reggie Davis, and Daniel and wife Cathy Gilley; grandchildren, Kerri Sheldon and Matt Duguay, Kelly and Ron Dalton, Sheldon Schlie, Kelsey Sheldon, Cienna Gilley, Ariana Davis, and Davin Gilley; two great-granddaughters Abby and Riley Duguay; and his extended family in Kansas.
