Dale Boggs

March 4, 1930 — February 14, 2011

Of Mt. Morris, age 80, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Alonzo Vincent will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Dale's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, from 10:00am to 8:00pm. On Saturday, from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to The National Emphysema Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Dale was born March 4, 1930 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Burdith (Andrews) Boggs. He and Betty Urch were united in marriage April 24, 1948 in Mt. Morris. At the young age of 14, Dale would begin to work on the farm and eventually opening Boggs Marathon in Mt. Morris. Dale worked for Buick for 32 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of UAW Local #599. Shortly before retiring he would become the sexton for Upton Cemetery. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, yard work, flowers, and hunting. Dale leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Betty, three children; Patrick and wife, Darlene Boggs, Kelly and wife, Jill Boggs and Mickey Lynne Boggs; 10 grandchildren; Penny Gaydou, Kevin, Michael, Jordon, Brent, Amanda, Layna, Ashley, Kacie and Tarra Boggs; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn and husband, David Thompson; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and sisters-in-law. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Dennis and Michael Boggs, grandson, Craig Boggs, three brothers; Gene, Harold and Mick and two sisters; Natalie Simpson and Carol Ryan.
