Age 93, of Flushing, died Monday, September 21, 2015, at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral will take place at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. On Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 1:00 pm; Pastor Leroy Cole officiating. Clifford’s family will gather at the funeral home to receive family and friends on Friday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. On Monday, September 28, 2015, Clifford’s family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 8:00 am to travel in procession to Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, for burial at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Clifford was born August 23, 1922, in Croswell, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. George and Beatrice (Matthews) Studaker. He graduated from Croswell High School with the Class of 1940. Clifford proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, serving from January 1943 until October 1945. During his tour, Clifford completed over 50 missions with the 15th Air Force in Italy. He is a Purple Heart recipient and also received an Air Metal with three clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of American Legion Post #225 as well as a member of the Mt. Morris First United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Retired Men’s Fellowship of Greater Flint. Clifford graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1949. He was elected to membership in Tau Beta Pi, and engineering honorary fraternity and to Phi Kappa Phi, a scholastic honorary fraternity. He and Carol Landon were united in marriage on December 27, 1988, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Clifford worked for the Oldsmobile Division in Lansing until transferring to Chevrolet Motor Division. On September 1, 1950, Clifford transferred to Buick Motor Division where he would become the Assistant Chief Engineer, retiring on October 1, 1980, after 34 years of service. Clifford was an engineer at heart, when not working he could be found tinkering around the house, designing and building things for his family and friends, spending time at the family cottage, traveling the United States and walking. Clifford was a true quintessential man's man. Left to cherish his memory are: his wife Carol (Landon) Studaker; five sons: Rob (Peggy) Studaker, Eric (Lynda) Studaker, Andy (Marcie) Studaker, Scott Wehner and Brett Wehner; thirteen grandchildren: Scott, Brian and Becca Studaker, Leah (Dan) Eull, Jason and Kip (Nikki) Studaker, Hannah and Heidi Wehner and Lauren, Leah, Sara and Landon Wehner; six great-grandchildren: Nick, Jake and Logan Eull and Kaylyn, Clara and Brittney Studaker; two brothers: Evert and Carl (Carole) Studaker; sister-in-law, Mildred Studaker; special nephew, Jim (Theresa) Landon and their daughter Brittney; sister-in-law, Sue (George) Chism; and many other loved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Esther on September 22, 1986, brother, Irvin and his mother and father-in-law Burney (Ellen) Landon.
