Charles Smith

Age 82, of Flint, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, while surrounded by his family at Beaumont Medical Center in Troy, Michigan. A visitation for Charles will take place at Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Sunday December 21, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at The First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris Monday December 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM at the church. Pastor Mark McCallum will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family members, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Charles was born on October 9, 1932, in Ludington, Michigan, the son Mr. and Mrs. Orton and Teckla (Larson) Smith. Graduated from the Ludington High School in 1950. After graduation from high school Charles enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1952 until 1956, stationed in Munich, Germany as a Sergeant and Military Police Officer. After returning home he married Margaret Faye Donaldson on August 4, 1956 at The First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris; they were happily married for 57 years. He was a Deacon and devout member of The First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. He was the President of Kearsley Rescue Squad for over 20 years, Co-Founder of Citizens Crossroads Village in Genesee, Michigan for over 20 years, as well as retiring from his career as a Production Worker at General Motors in 1993 after more than 30 years of service with General Motors. Left to cherish his memory is Charles' Son, Jonathan and wife Ronda Smith. Daughter, Margaret Ann Cole. Sister, Iva Figgins. Aunt, Barb and husband Bernard Reno. Grand children Tony , River Smith, Sarah and husband David King, David and Spencer Cole. Great Grandchild, Braden King. Preceded in death by his Wife, Margaret Faye (Donaldson)Smith.
